You don't have to win the fight. You have to go home.

Inside now · Momentum Class Series

Real classes.
Start to finish.

Full-length classes filmed on the mats at Momentum Martial Arts in Reno, taught by Professor Darien Cobon. The teaching, the drilling and the live rounds, with chapters and captions. New classes are added as they're filmed.

01

Control the Joint Above

Why submissions fail, and the two things that fix it: control the joint above, and use counter pressure. The Americana from the shoulder, beating a stronger partner, the curved ankle lock, a headlock defense from guard, and live back-control rounds. 29 minutes.

One membership · four disciplines

You get
all four.

Harder To Kill is not a single course. Jiu-jitsu, firearms, striking and knife control are one membership, taught by one instructor, built to work together. Jiu jitsu is inside now; the other three roll out as they are filmed.

The core path

Eight
rounds

The self-defense track builds in order: avoid the fight, manage the distance, survive the ground, end the threat, then make it a habit. Rounds are released as they are filmed.

01

Awareness & the fence

Pre-fight cues, the fence, using your voice to set a boundary, and when to simply leave.

02

Distance & the clinch

Managing range, closing the gap under a punch, and tying an attacker up so strikes lose their power.

03

Fall safe, stand up

Breakfalls that protect your head on pavement, and the technical stand-up that gets you back to your feet.

04

Takedowns

The double leg, the body-lock takedown, and landing on top where they can't hit you.

05

Survive the bottom

Protect your head, then trap and roll, the elbow-knee escape, and recovering from side control.

06

Chokes & headlocks

The standing headlock, the front choke, the rear grab. Clear the danger first, then escape.

07

Control & the finish

Holding mount and side control, the armbar, the rear-naked choke, and knowing when to stop.

08

The daily grind

A weekly drill plan, solo movement, and partner games that keep the skill for years.

Kaizen · the math of momentum

Momentum Martial Arts is named for kaizen — continuous improvement. Get a little better each day and it compounds. Slip a little each day and that compounds too.

What does membership cost?

$249 a year, billed yearly. That covers everything inside Harder To Kill and every class added while you are a member.

Do I need a training partner?

It helps. Plenty of the work is solo, but escapes and takedowns stick best with a partner.

Do I need a gi?

No. Train in the clothes you'd actually be wearing. Where a grip on clothing matters, we show it both ways.

Is this a replacement for a gym?

No, and we won't pretend it is. It's a serious foundation you can build at home. If you're near Reno, Momentum Martial Arts' first class is always free.
